Growth, Creativity & Change: Preparing for 2025

Joel Bryant // December 22nd, 2024

Like it or not—nothing lasts forever. Life moves in chapters, some long, some short, but all ever-moving.

Sometimes I feel like I’m running on autopilot, trying to make the most of each day, striving to achieve as much as I possibly can in every waking hour.

In this constant state of flow, there’s an ever-present motion, guiding me along on my journey in life—as if I’m being carried by an unseen current.

This year has been monumental for me—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I settled into a new hometown, one that truly allowed me to grow beyond what I thought was possible. I surrounded myself with like-minded people who believe in my vision and push me to strive for even more than I think I’m capable of.

Above all else, I stayed true to myself and put my creative vision first. This choice allowed me to grow as an artist and gave me the opportunity to see a small fraction of what I’m capable of come to life.

It’s crazy to think how far I’ve come.

But, like I said, it all happens in chapters.

The biggest chapter for me this year was the last six months, living in Byron Bay with some of my best friends with similar outlooks on life. It was a chapter filled with growth, creativity, and an unwavering pursuit of my best self.

Looking back, it’s easy to connect the dots and see how every step has led me here—because I placed myself in the position to grow.

Now, a new chapter begins…

Just two days ago, I moved into a new place here in Byron Bay. I’ll be set up here for the next 12 months, with nothing but growth, productivity, and creative energy running through my veins.

It’s hard to say what’s to come in this next year, but part of me knows it’ll be more than I can imagine.

As the year comes to a close and Christmas time approaches, it’s a perfect moment to reflect on everything this year has brought and prepare for the fresh start that 2025 promises. The holiday season has a way of slowing things down just enough to remind us of what truly matters—connection, gratitude, and hope for the future.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about creativity and filmmaking this year, it’s this: put yourself in the position to create. Whether it’s showing up with your camera every day, surrounding yourself with inspiring people, or simply giving yourself permission to fail, creativity thrives when you create the space for it.

5 Tips for Positioning Yourself for the Year Ahead

As we step into 2025, here are some actionable steps to position yourself for growth, creativity, and success:

  1. Surround Yourself with the Right People: Seek out those who challenge you, inspire you, and believe in your vision. The people around you have a profound impact on your mindset and progress.
    • Tip: Join creative communities, attend workshops, or collaborate with like-minded individuals.
  2. Focus on Continuous Learning: Invest time in learning new skills, refining your craft, and staying curious.
    • Tip: Dedicate time each week to watch tutorials, read books, or experiment with new techniques.
  3. Be Intentional with Your Time: Time is your most valuable asset. Spend it on projects, relationships, and activities that align with your goals.
    • Tip: Use time-blocking to protect your most productive hours for creative work.
  4. Prioritise Your Health and Well-being: Creativity thrives when your mind and body are taken care of.
    • Tip: Make time for exercise, proper sleep, and moments of rest.
  5. Take Bold Action and Make Decisions Quickly: Don’t let indecisiveness slow you down. Bold action paired with quick, confident decisions can create powerful momentum.
    • Tip: Set clear goals, trust your instincts, and act decisively.

And speaking of growth and creativity, I’m excited to share that I’ll be opening up spots for my Filmmaking Mentorship Program on January 1st. This program is designed to help you refine your storytelling, improve your filmmaking skills, and take your creative vision to the next level. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon!

So here’s to embracing the joy of the season and stepping boldly into the new year.

As 2025 approaches, I’m filled with gratitude for where I’ve been and excitement for where I’m headed.

“The only constant in life is change.”

Here’s to embracing it.
